Discussion of UW System&#8217;s proposed personnel system is also on the agenda. The legislature directed UW-Madison and UW Syste to develop and implement their own personnel systems as part of the 2011-13 biennial budget. UW-Madison\u2019s personnel plan is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scribd.com\/doc\/133666415\/UW-Madison-Human-Resources-plan-April-2013-Board-of-Regents?secret_password=ii7nbamjgw5pmjaty5y\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting has a greater significance due to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/news\/education\/uw-system-head-pledges-tuition-cap-more-financial-aid-lm9ki92-203805911.html\">revelation<\/a> last week that UW System has nearly $650 million in cash reserves. Republican lawmakers have expressed outrage since the discovery and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Burlington), co-chair of JCOER, has said he may oppose the proposed personnel systems today as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Update 1:15 pm: JCOER <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/news\/statepolitics\/lawmakers-say-they-wont-give-uw-more-say-in-payroll-because-of-reserves-revelation-2r9m2dv-204294001.html\">met but did not vote<\/a> on either personnel system today, demanding more information about the reserve funds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Legislature&#8217;s Joint Committee on Employment Relations (JCOER)\u00a0will meet today at 10 am to discuss UW-Madison&#8217;s new personnel system.
