{"id":5407,"date":"2013-06-19T11:24:37","date_gmt":"2013-06-19T17:24:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/?p=5407"},"modified":"2013-06-19T12:24:55","modified_gmt":"2013-06-19T18:24:55","slug":"assembly-passes-technical-amendment-to-budget-no-change-for-center-for-investigative-journalism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/?p=5407","title":{"rendered":"Assembly Passes Technical Amendment to Budget; No Change for Center for Investigative Journalism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Wisconsin Assembly voted 59-36 to approve a <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.legis.wi.gov\/raw\/proposal\/2013\/b0702\">technical amendment<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.legis.wisconsin.gov\/2013\/proposals\/ab40\">AB 40<\/a>, the 2013-15 biennial budget proposal. The amendment did not change a Joint Finance Committee provision that would force the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism off campus. UW-Madison and PROFS had been lobbying members of the Assembly to delete the provison from the budget proposal.<\/p>\n<p>The amended budget will go to the Senate for its approval. PROFS will continue to lobby to keep the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism on campus.<\/p>\n<p>ETA: The Assembly passed the budget with a vote of 55-42 along party lines. Three Republicans voted no and two did not vote.
