{"id":5925,"date":"2013-10-14T12:15:19","date_gmt":"2013-10-14T18:15:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/?p=5925"},"modified":"2013-10-14T12:15:19","modified_gmt":"2013-10-14T18:15:19","slug":"uw-madisons-fourth-year-progress-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/?p=5925","title":{"rendered":"UW-Madison&#8217;s Fourth Year Progress Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Wisconsin-Madison adopted a strategic framework in 2009 stating &#8220;the University of Wisconsin-Madison will be a model public university in the 21st century, serving as a resource to the public, and working to enhance the quality of life in the state, the nation, and the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Provost Paul De Luca recently released the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chancellor.wisc.edu\/strategicplan\/fourth-year-progress-report\/index.html\">Fourth Year Progress Report Campus Strategic Framework 2012-13<\/a>. The report offers examples of how the university is achieving its goals in five areas:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Provide an exemplary undergraduate experience.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UW-Madison enrolled it&#8217;s largest-ever freshman class in 2012.<\/li>\n<li>Time to degree has fallen to just under 4.2 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reinvigorate the Wisconsin Idea and renew our commitment to our public mission.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Discovery to Product (D2P) was developed and will launch in fall 2013.<\/li>\n<li>University Health Services administered $6.6 million in grants to 30 Wisconsin communities through the Transform Wisconsin Coalition.<\/li>\n<li>In its first year, the Office of Industrial Partnerships processed more than 1,2000 agreements valued at $27 million.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Invest in scholarly domains in which we have existing or potential strength and impact.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UW-Madison ranked 4th nationally in research expenditures ($1.1 billion).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Recruit and retain the best faculty and staff, and reward merit.
