Remarks about UW System begin at 12\u00a0minutes.<\/p>\nhttps:\/\/soundcloud.com\/journal-broadcast-group\/gov-walker-talks-bucks-arena-on-midday-with-charlie-sykes\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Response from UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank and UW System President Ray Cross was swift.\u00a0Cross <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wpr.org\/listen\/707191\">told<\/a> Wisconsin Public Radio host Joy Cardin that faculty work on average 50-60 hours per week (18 minutes):<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"ose-self-hosterd ose-uid-07e131da2af52e68ae9988855d527be6 ose-embedpress-responsive\" style=\"width:600px; height:600px; max-height:600px; max-width:100%; display:inline-block;\" data-embed-type=\"document_mp3\"><audio controls> <source src=\"http:\/\/podcast.wpr.org\/jca\/jca150129b.mp3\" ><\/audio><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Chancellor Blank <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.wisc.edu\/23448\">said<\/a>\u00a0that teaching is just part of the work faculty perform for the benefit of the state:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cTeaching is a core mission of the university and taxpayers should expect that faculty are spending time in the classroom. But we know that our faculty are working on behalf of the state in research, outreach and fundraising, among other capacities.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0.05em; line-height: 1.6875;\">PROFS President Grant Petty <a href=\"http:\/\/host.madison.com\/news\/local\/govt-and-politics\/gov-scott-walker-to-uw-faculty-consider-teaching-one-more\/article_46cd33d1-18bb-509e-aa2c-d3b0b66ccee8.html\">told<\/a> the <em>Wisconsin State Journal<\/em>\u00a0a professor&#8217;s job is much more than time spent in the classroom, likening it to the work of clergy:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs Governor Walker knows from his own family background, a pastor\u2019s job doesn\u2019t start and stop with the Sunday sermon.
