This event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n<p>Assembly Majority Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.legis.wisconsin.gov\/2015\/legislators\/assembly\/1238\">Jim Steineke<\/a> (R-Kaukauna),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/universityrelations.wisc.edu\/about-the-office\/\">Ben Miller<\/a>, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Government Affairs and Strategic Partnerships, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omearapublicaffairs.com\/?page_id=16\">Jack O&#8217;Meara<\/a>, PROFS Legislative Representative, will share their expertise and take questions from members of the audience. A recording of the\u00a0the forum will be available online at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>Questions at the forum are likely to include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What types of performance metrics\u00a0are likely to be included as part of possible increased funding for UW System?<\/li>\n<li>What is the likelihood of a pay plan for UW faculty and staff? Is a pay plan still possible if the Joint Finance Committee does not approve self-insurance?<\/li>\n<li>Would new statutory language codifying the state&#8217;s commitment to academic freedom result in any changes to existing campus policies?<\/li>\n<li>Are non-fiscal policy items likely to remain in the budget proposal?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Legislative Fiscal Bureau summary of the University of Wisconsin System portion of the governor&#8217;s budget is <a href=\"http:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/LFB-UW-System-summary.pdf\">he<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/LFB-UW-System-summary.pdf\">re<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>PROFS is planning a forum on\u00a0self-insurance later this spring.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PROFS will host a forum to discuss Governor Scott Walker&#8217;s 2017-19 state budget proposal at noon, Thursday, March 16 in Room 5120\u00a0Grainger Hall.
