The group will examine hiring practices and consider expanding the search process to include non-traditional candidates from outside academia. The committee does not include a member from UW-Madison.<\/p>\n<p>Workgroup members:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regent Vice President Drew Petersen, chair<\/li>\n<li>Regent Gerald Whitburn, vice-chair<\/li>\n<li>Regent Tracey Klein<\/li>\n<li>Chancellor Bob Meyer, UW-Stout<\/li>\n<li>Provost Aaron Brower, UW-Extension<\/li>\n<li>Professor Joe Heim, UW-La Crosse<\/li>\n<li>Vice Chancellor Rose Smyrski, UW-Platteville<\/li>\n<li>Vice President of Academic &amp; Student Affairs James Henderson, UW System<\/li>\n<li>Senior Associate Vice President of Human Resources &amp; Workforce Diversity Shenita Brokenburr, UW System<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Last month, Regent President John Behling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/quicktakes\/2017\/07\/10\/wisconsin-board-leader-wants-hire-nonacademics\">told<\/a> fellow Regents he would like UW System institutions to recruit non-academic candidates and &#8220;streamline&#8221; the hiring process for top administrative positions.<\/p>\n<p>In June, PROFS <a href=\"https:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/?p=8132\">asked<\/a> the co-chairs of the Joint Committee on Finance to remove a budget provision that would prohibit UW System from creating a rule limiting candidates for chancellor and vice chancellor positions to individuals who are faculty members or hold terminal degrees in their field.
