{"id":8553,"date":"2019-06-20T10:54:28","date_gmt":"2019-06-20T15:54:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/?p=8553"},"modified":"2019-06-20T10:54:28","modified_gmt":"2019-06-20T15:54:28","slug":"former-profs-president-judith-burstyn-on-news-3-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/?p=8553","title":{"rendered":"Former PROFS President Judith Burstyn on News 3 Now"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Former PROFS President Judith Burstyn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channel3000.com\/news\/faculty-state-not-funding-uw-tuition-freeze-means-universities-would-have-to-make-other-cuts\/1087664933\">appeared yesterday<\/a> on News 3 Now (embedded below). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burstyn told reporter Rose Schmidt that faculty salaries at UW-Madison lag behind peers and while the current state budget proposal includes two 2 percent pay increases for faculty and staff, the university must reallocate funds from elsewhere on campus to pay for $16 million of the pay raises if tuition remains frozen and the state does not provide inflationary funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Newly-elected UW System Board of Regents President Drew Petersen also appeared on the newscast.
