{"id":9208,"date":"2021-08-24T16:57:28","date_gmt":"2021-08-24T21:57:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/?p=9208"},"modified":"2021-08-24T16:57:28","modified_gmt":"2021-08-24T21:57:28","slug":"uw-system-interim-president-tommy-thompson-running-uw-system-is-our-responsibility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profs.wisc.edu\/?p=9208","title":{"rendered":"UW System Interim President Tommy Thompson: Running UW System is Our Responsibility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pushing back against a directive by the Legislature&#8217;s Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules (JCRAR), UW System Interim President Tommy Thompson offered his thoughts in an op-ed released today.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the Republican-led committee <a href=\"https:\/\/wkow.com\/2021\/08\/03\/uw-system-will-need-to-seek-approval-for-covid-19-regulations\/\">voted<\/a> along party lines and ordered UW System to submit Covid-19 related policies to the committee as emergency rules subject to JCRAR approval.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/uw-system-refuses-submit-covid-19-safety-restrictions-republican-approval\">said today<\/a> he doesn&#8217;t believe the committee has oversight and does not plan to comply with the committee&#8217;s order.
