Among the many questions we’ve been getting about last week’s budget announcements were several about furloughs. The language used was ambiguous, as a number of people pointed out — it was unclear whether current levels of furloughs would continue. Here’s a clarification from System (taken from here):
Clarification from UW System: Gov. Walker’s staff confirms that the Budget Repair Bill will contain no additional furlough requirement for the remainder of FY 2011, but furlough requirements already included in the 2009-11 biennial budget remain in effect through the end of June. His staff confirmed that he does not intend to include any furloughs in his 2011-13 biennial budget — no new furloughs and no continuation of the 2009-11 furloughs.
