The Joint Finance Committee is meeting today in executive session at noon to consider two items — Senate Bill 93 (concealed carry) and Senate Bill 27 (2011-13 state budget). The committee is expected to add language to the proposed concealed carry legislation that would require training and permitting in order to carry a concealed weapon, restrictions missing from the current bill. PROFS has registered in opposition to this bill.
The committee will also approve the amended Senate version of the budget bill, one that mirrors the already-approved Assembly budget bill. While this move will allow either house to take up the budget next week, a spokesperson for Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald has said that the Assembly will begin deliberations on the bill next Tuesday, June 14 at 11 am.
