The Wisconsin Assembly voted 59-36 to approve a technical amendment to AB 40, the 2013-15 biennial budget proposal. The amendment did not change a Joint Finance Committee provision that would force the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism off campus. UW-Madison and PROFS had been lobbying members of the Assembly to delete the provison from the budget proposal.
The amended budget will go to the Senate for its approval. PROFS will continue to lobby to keep the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism on campus.
ETA: The Assembly passed the budget with a vote of 55-42 along party lines. Three Republicans voted no and two did not vote. All Democrats voted against the bill.
