WISCAPE, the Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education, is sponsoring a public forum on the proposed two-year tuition freeze for UW System campuses. Governor Scott Walker proposed the freeze after UW System was found to have almost $650 million in reserves.
The forum will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 26 in Room 159 Education, 1000 Bascom Mall. Tom Loftus, a former member of the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents is the featured speaker. Loftus also served as ambassador to Norway and was a member of the Wisconsin Assembly for 14 years, serving as speaker for eight years. Loftus will discuss his view that the tuition freeze is an opportunity for UW System to reform its policies and could ultimately strengthen the Board of Regents.
The forum is the first in a series on higher education finance and is open to the public.
