PROFS Celebrates 45 Years

PROFS Incorporation documentForty-five years ago, a group of UW-Madison faculty led by Law Professor Marygold Melli created PROFS, a non-profit organization whose mission was to advocate on behalf of UW-Madison faculty to the Legislature, Governor, Regents and members of Congress.

While many years have passed, PROFS continues to work hard to make sure faculty voices are heard in the legislative process. We extend our gratitude to those faculty members who have supported us and helped ensure our success since 1977.

This is the first time since 2007 that a budget bill passed with bipartisan support. The bill now awaits action from Governor Tony Evers who can sign the bill into law, sign it with partial vetoes, or fully veto the bill.

The resolution was introduced last week by State Representative Dave Murphy (R-Greenville) and State Senator André Jacque (R-De Pere). Murphy chairs the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities.
