For the past year, Regent Michael Spector has served as Vice President of UW System’s Board of Regents. He was appointed to the board in 2005 and also serves as chair of the Personnel Matters Review and co-chair of the Competitive University Workforce Commission. Spector retired from Quarles & Brady in Milwaukee in 2002, where he worked for 36 years and served as Chair and Managing Partner. Spector is a graduate of UW-Madison and Harvard Law School and attended the London School of Economics.
Spector has a keen interest in education. Last year, Marquette University appointed him to lead an effort to address public policy issues related to Milwaukee Public Schools. He also serves as a visiting professor of law at Marquette.
Members of PROFS and the University Committee met with Regent Spector last month and discussed several issues including tuition remission for graduate students and the progress of the Competitive University Workforce Commission. The commission’s charge is to examine compensation issues related to UW System. They will present their report to the Regents in Milwaukee later this week.
