State Budget 101 will be held today, Thursday, February 10 at 4 pm in the Wisconsin Idea Room in the Education Building. The forum is open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
The roundtable will feature several experts on the state budget process — lawyer/lobbyist Peter Christianson, State Representative Mark Pocan (D-Madison), and Don Nelson, director of state relations for the university. Nelson is filling in for Vice Chancellor Darrell Bazzell who cannot participate as scheduled. Jack O’Meara, PROFS legislative representative, will moderate.
PROFS hopes these experts will help the university community better understand Wisconsin’s lengthy budget process, which will begin in earnest on February 22 with the introduction of the Governor’s 2011-13 biennial budget.
The following campus organizations are cosponsoring the forum: CAPE (Coalition for Affordable Public Education), TAA (Teaching Assistants Association), UFAS (United Faculty and Academic Staff), WISCAPE, (Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education), Wisconsin Student Lobby, and WUU (Wisconsin University Union).
