PROFS will host two public forums featuring Democratic candidates in newly-drawn legislative districts just outside Madison. Legislative primaries in Wisconsin will now be held on the second Tuesday in August — this year, August 14. The date was moved from September as part of Act 23 passed last year.
80th Assembly District — The newly-drawn 80th AD now includes parts of Verona, Mt. Horeb, Oregon, Belleville, New Glarus, Blue Mounds, Ridgeway, and Barneveld. The Democratic primary includes Charles Uphoff, a former member of the Fitchburg City Council and Oregon School Board; former State Representative Joe Wineke; and Representative Sondy-Pope Roberts, who currently represents the 79th Assembly District. Redistricting has put her in the 80th.
PROFS will host a forum featuring these candidates at 7 pm on Monday, July 30 at the Verona Senior Center, 108 Paoli Street. The forum will allow for opening and closing statements and questions from a moderator. Refreshments will be served.
47th Assembly District — The newly-drawn 47th AD now includes parts of Fitchburg, McFarland, and Monona. Two Democrats will be on the August 14 ballot — Amanda Hall, a recent law school graduate and Robb Kahl, attorney and former mayor of Monona.
The forum featuring these candidates will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday, August 1 at the Fitchburg Community Center, 5510 Lacy Road. The forum will allow for opening and closing statements and questions from a moderator. Refreshments will be served.
