Regents Look for Common Ground

uw system logoThe University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents will use the first day of its regularly-scheduled September meeting to reach out to legislators and state officials. The special conference will be held at noon on Thursday, September 5 in Gordon Dining and Event Center, 770 West Dayton Street. A full agenda is here.

The forum, Finding Common Ground: Regent Governance, Funding, and Partnerships for Wisconsin’s Public University System, will feature a luncheon address from Charles Reed, Chancellor Emeritus of the California State University System followed by panel discussions on regent governance and public higher education funding.

Several key legislators are scheduled to participate in the discussions, including State Representatives Robin Vos (R-Burlington), Pat Strachota (R-West Bend), and Jill Billings (D-La Crosse) and Senators Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) and Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls).

The meeting comes as UW System begins its search for a new president. Kevin Reilly, UW System president since 2004, announced in July he will step down at the end of the year.
